Silk and Acrylic

We cannot deny our society holds the feminine form as an ideal.  Bombarded with images of beautiful, shapely women, young girls dream of this epitome.  On the other side of the equation, men see woman as sexual objects to fulfill their own needs.  They can lure young women/girls by the promise of reaching this dreamlike state.  This piece uses negative space to show both sides of the issue—innocence on one side, nefarious motives on the other.  Central to the issue—the archetype that we all allow to be upheld in our society.

Materials & Techniques: Silk painted and overdyed habotai adhered to acrylic glass, LED back lit.
