Artist Statement

For this piece ‘Hug or Kiss?’, I play with a simple issue between two friends who may question whether a deeper relationship is in the offing. Insecure in their standing with the other, they might wonder is this a date or just friends enjoying one another’s company? Does a hug at the end of the evening squelch a potential; will a kiss prove a fool and lead to rejection? Even in this simplest of interactions we show our vulnerability.

Dyed and over-dyed silk utilizing resist, adhered to acrylic glass, and positioned above LED lights.
